We are seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to be responsible for the overall design, construction, modification, and validation of physical facilities and equipment at the Augusta facility. This hands-on position requires a desire and ability to work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, as well as the demonstration of a high degree of flexibility, creativity, and initiative applied to the various duties and aspects of the position. This person will be expected to play an integral part of Manus’s team located in Augusta, GA.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with all Augusta plant site Contractor/Guest Safety Program and site ESH requirements.
  • Participates in development of long-range plans for engineering capital and production targets (yields, volume, materials usages, etc.). Also develops and monitors annual departmental budgets.
  • Implements best practices and applicable manufacturing excellence concepts to continually improve the capabilities and performance of the engineering team. Utilizes key performance indicators to track and improve engineering and production unit performance.
  • Oversees engineering project management activities, including, but not limited to, capital planning, engineering design, implementations, tracking, validation, and reporting. Manages internal and external resource issues and requirements for varying project workloads and priorities throughout the year. Accountable for engineering budget. Ensures engineering tools (WCPM, CADD, design software, SAP, business applications) are meeting the needs of engineering, engineering objectives are carefully monitored and managed with corrective actions implemented where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable engineering standards, company policy and practices, governmental regulation, and generally accepted industry practice by providing the necessary direction and review of engineering activities.
  • Ensure engineering personnel are qualified and have the required proficiency to perform assignments successfully. Actively supports the growth and personal development of personnel through timely coaching and counseling of personnel, and by providing guidance, approval and follow up on appropriate technical training and people skill development plans.
  • Applies technical and managerial expertise to: support plant expansions; ensure engineering support in site incident analysis; participate in the development, implementation and support of new plant programs; and lead or participate in special projects.
  • Develops effective working relationships between project engineering and other site groups. Champions efforts to develop and maintain a seamless integration of activities within project engineering. Ensures customer satisfaction through effective communications and seeking feedback on services provided.
  • Ensures the quality of engineering documentation to ensure that documentation is maintained in a current and complete state, and reflects plant policy, practices and procedures. Documentation includes, but is not limited to, Engineering Procedures, Operating Instructions, Work Instructions, Engineering Standards, Engineering Manuals, Engineering Project files and drawings.
  • Ensures effective coordination of work priorities, staffing, and project installations for both the on-site construction contractor and contract-engineering firm. Ensures on-site contractor costs are maintained at efficient levels.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk and hear. Ability to lift and carry 10 lbs. on a regular basis is required.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years in an FDA regulated facility of which at least four (4) years to be with production or project engineering management responsibilities
  • Experience leading multiple direct reports (preferably technical professionals)
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, vendors, contractors and other business contacts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in cGMP environments.
  • Experience in the chemical, food, or pharmaceutical industry.
